Ingredients
200g Buona macaroni pasta, 2 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 cups milk, 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, salt and black pepper to taste, 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
Instructions
Cook Buona macaroni pasta in a pot of boiling salted water usually about 8-10 minutes until al dente.
In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in all-purpose flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Once pasta is cooked, drain it and add it to the cheese sauce. Toss well to coat the macaroni evenly. If desired, transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture to a baking dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Serve hot.
